On Fifth

A new Mexican restaurant, El Nopal, has opened at 631 Fifth, formerly home to Suki Sushi.  You can see the menu on the restaurant's facebook page.

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that the commercial space at 540 Fifth was leased to fitness studio iLoveKickboxing.  Now, it appears, the rental apartments are for lease.

Despite the banner ad, I couldn't find listings on the Ideal site, but did see a couple elsewhere on line, apparently listed by Bedford 6.

Welcome to 540 5th Avenue, Park Slope's newest hearty and handsome rental building. Small and quaint, this 5 unit building is unique in size and finishes.

A four-bedroom unit is available for $6,000, & one-bedrooms are listed from $2,900 to $3,200.

Over at 648, signs of life after a long dormancy.  I've heard there are plans to clean up the building and rent out the retail space.  I always hoped the building would hang in there on the avenue, so this is good news, but I'll miss that old Delicatessen sign...
