Coming Up

Whatever the opposite of green fingers are, I have them.  But I've hit upon a motley collection of plants that tolerate incompetence, & they come back, year after year.  Raspberries, strawberries, rhubarb are all producing leaves & looking sturdy.  The lilac's covered with small, tight blooms, the bleeding heart is starting to flower, & the lavender shot up out of nowhere.  Salvia, sorrel, columbine, are all making an appearance.  The hydrangeas didn't flower last year, but I'm hoping they'll make a good, showy display this time around.  The pitiful rose bush, a miserable, weedy creature we'd finish off with relish but for its perfect, orange-pink blooms, is back.  Herbs straggle in.
Time for some nursery shopping any day now.
