Cemetery Views

816 and 817 Fifth Avenue (33rd/34th) lingered on the market for over a year, originally listed for $1,500,000 each, then gradually sliding down to $1,150,000 apiece. They're unusual properties, as each of them actually contain two attached buildings, front & rear, comprising four small apartments altogether. There are six properties on the block built in this style, but 816 & 817 are the only ones on the block with markers identifying their address as Welsh Court. Two intact Courts with common courtyards, Roosevelt & Woodrow, are close by, and were built around the same time, so maybe 814 to 819 once shared a courtyard too.
816,(with 816A), & 817 (with 817A) were sold last month to the same buyer, for asking price. Together, the two lots make up a 50 X 100 parcel, so there are no prizes to be given for guessing their destiny. Nearby 814, on a corner lot, sold in May for $1,400,000.
