By the Tracks Again

Oh, it's been a long time since I ate at the Polka Dot - maybe twenty years or more. I had a hankering to go back, but came on a day it was closed. What did I eat last time? Most probably the old standby hash & eggs, but maybe liver & onions. They used to do a good liver plate, and even though I wasn't especially fond of liver, it pulled me back to the meals of childhood - of kidneys, and tripe and suet beef puddings. This would be pricey, retro-chic dining today, but then it was just domestic thrift. Today I'd never touch liver in any form. The Polka Dot building's been around since the 50s, and there seems to have been a restaurant of some description here for over a century - perfect for the once busy train hub of White River Junction, VT.  A grand old town.
