Flaming Pablum considers the New York Dolls, past & present, & includes a youtube video of Trash, from their first album, in 1973.  I remember ordering this LP from my local record shop, and being pretty excited when it came in.  I can't be sure, but I probably learned of the Dolls through the New Musical Express. Back then an NME subscription was a teen lifeline, and a very young Charles Shaar Murray the epitome of journalistic cool.
