Good & Bad

I was happy to notice Sandy's Internet Cafe open again today.  When I went inside, I discovered that it re-opened last week, after some renovations.  This is excellent news, and I'm looking forward to eating those tamales again.
For every up there's a down (or a dozen of them).  The charismatic Hair Design by Julie, sandwiched between Vivi & Five Color Nails on Fifth at 12th, is now completely empty.  After Timboo's closed, I hoped Julie would keep a little old-school color left on the block, but it seems to be gone.  The only long-time businesses left on this strip today are Joe's pizzeria & Tacos Nuevo Mexico.  What else is there? Supermarkets & bars-to-be, the never busy Avon training center, a phone shop, & Nails.  How much blander can things get?

Update:  Hair Design is moving to a new location.  Hopefully those scary looking women in the window will go along too.

The words, "7-Eleven" and "Subway" immediately spring to my mind!

They're just a block or two away on either side.

I've been seeing San Bo Bo's gate down this past week. Where will all the postal workers go?

A while back I thought Sun Bo Bo had closed down - it was shuttered for a while. Then it came back! Maybe this time it's for good though. It'll be sad when that sign (that name!) comes down. Everything is going so fast.
