Infiniti Communications on Fifth

The Botanica San Miguel & Anaisa  used to have some large & striking figures in the window, but some time back it became a Chinese restaurant.  The Psychic, however (once a Reader, but now an Advisor), is still working upstairs, and the fee is still five bucks.  It almost seems a bargain these days.

You have to go a couple of blocks further north, to the Botanica Universal Las Mercedes, to find a good array of religious figures these days.  I like looking in the window, but I haven't been inside for a long time.  I ought to, soon.  It's not for the faint-hearted, though: there's quite an array of fetishes and potions.  Designed for some serious business.  A tiny, wizened woman in a nun-like veil looked out at me accusingly as I took this picture of a not especially Halloween themed character, and even though I hold no religious beliefs, I did feel a flicker of unease as her eyes met mine.

In between the two sites, I passed Jackie's Fifth Amendment, where an advisor on a different plane - a middle-aged guy standing at the bar's entrance - teetered a little as he passed on his own slurred message to a fellow drinker.  It was brief, and to the point.
"What it boils down to is this.  Keep your fuckin' mouth shut."

Great photos and text! Nothing worse than getting the evil nun eye! And I love your overheard bar conversation! Too funny!

Thanks guys. Not sure how to address you, King, but thanks for following the blog. I feel flattered to have a taxi driver reader! I've just started reading your blog, & am really enjoying it. Despite your modesty, your photographs are great.
