First Day of Vacation (from Ruby's in the Rain)

And to glance with an eye or show a bean in its pod confounds the learning of all times...
And there is no object so soft but it makes a hub for the wheeled universe ...
(Leaves of Grass - 1855 edition)

Not even the nasty new sign outside (bleh, I don't even want to show it here) & some other inside "upgrades"could spoil the joy of spending a weekday afternoon jostled inside Ruby's, in a crowd of loud, damp & happy intoxication, as the sky darkened, lightning flashed, and rain sent the boardwalk strollers fleeing for cover.

I agree with you about the new sign, haven't seen it in person yet, but the shots I've seen on the internet are bad, kind of T.G.I. Fridayish. But, I'm happy they're still there, glad to hear you're on vacation and I loved these shots!

My favorite Mermaid Parade was the year it stormed. Rain, thunder, lightning, melting body paint...everyone gathered at Ruby's to watch the sky drama. Where else could a storm be so fun?
