Wooden House Replacement on 14th Street

Plans have been filed for a new, four-story, three family building at 225 14th Street.  This would replace a small wooden house which is set in a long stretch of similar, low-lying homes on the north side of the Fourth/Fifth block.  Manhattan based Isaac and Stern are the architects on record.  The house was sold in January for $1,375,000.

In 1874 the house was listed for sale at $3,600:

A two-storey and basement frame house; 10 rooms; gas and water; marble mantles and gas fixtures; house has been newly papered and painted throughout; lot 20 X 100, terms easy.  Apply to owner on premises.

An Eagle ad for 1919 lists 225 as the address of William Boylan, Truckman & Forwarder.
