In the Kitchen

Yes, it's right around the time for making artisanal, locally-sourced, small-batch  tomato sauce. I'm not an especially good gardener, but despite an unattractive leaf affliction, the back-yard tomatoes are prolific, and the freezer's filling up with sauce. As each batch simmers on the stove, I entertain myself by reading my recently-acquired thrift store purchases: Carsick, by John Waters (a blissful, laugh-out-loud read), and the Andy Warhol Diaries, which I last read around a quarter of a century ago.  I'd recently considered getting both of these titles new, but was too cheap to follow through, so it was a real coup to scoop them up for just a few bucks.
